Monterey Valley was an idea I came up with back in December of 2001. As I’ve explained back in the continuity post, It’s been an on again, off again, process as life has changed for me over the last several years. The point is, I had very few ideas about where the story was going and who the characters were back then. So when I come to episodes that I left notes for or had written a few lines of from years back, they can be vastly different from where I ended up taking them today. Especially with an actual idea of a plot arc beginning to form in my mind!

Take Used & Abused for instance. Irene was NOT going to be used by Sandra. But as I started to rewrite parts of Cornered Prey, I thought, lets get dirty… I haven’t really had a chance for Sandra to let loose and as the story has developed. In fact, hat will be happening a bit more in coming episodes while she deals with some things in her life. But I digress… Originally, Senorita Perez (the ‘long lost Perez’) was going to come in and interrupt a meeting between Irene and Sandra.

Sure there was supposed to be sexual tension and what not but it was at the inception not going to be a sexual encounter. Sandra would have sent Irene away before ever getting there, letting Irene wonder at what ifs until the next time Sandra invited her into her home. More of a slow burn I guess? It was also supposed to have been from Irene’s perspective and more of a ‘thinking back’ sort of episode as she drove home. I’m rambling too much, just read the original bit of script I wrote three years ago! (It’s not my most polished work and I giggled when I saw I had called her car flaccid compared to Sandra’s)

That had been weird. Like… WEIRD. Had she been coming on to me? But… No. She was my boss! She wouldn’t do that right? Couldn’t? I mean… I’d heard the stories. Everyone who worked in her office had said… But I thought they were just joking, teasing me, teasing the new girl.

I stumbled down the front steps of the house trying desperately to sort my thoughts. My car was just ahead, sitting flaccidly next to Ms. Perez’s gleaming black Cadillac. I paused as I took in the car parked next to it. It hadn’t been there when I’d first arrived earlier this evening.
